Chez Davia in Nice

Chez Davia in Nice

A gentle invitation to Niçoise cuisine, revisited with finesse and modernity.

Since its creation in 1953 on rue Grimaldi, Chez Davia has embodied the charm of a small family-run bouchon, where conviviality rhymes with excellence. Founded by Madame Davia - the current chef's great-grandmother - the restaurant is now run by Pierre Altobelli, the third generation at the helm. His cuisine, true to its origins, blends local produce, northern Italian recipes (inherited from Bologna) and gastronomic know-how acquired in Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo...

Chez Davia in Nice

A cuisine with roots and creativity

At Davia's, the great classics of Nice take pride of place, but always with a subtle modern twist. Farcis, pissaladière, daube and zucchini flower fritters are all homemade with fresh, local ingredients. There's even a hint of Italian influence, with San Remo-style bacalau and a reinvented ratatouille that resembles a grandmother's dish.

Trained by the greatest French chefs, Pierre Altobelli has lost none of his exacting standards. He works in a kitchen equipped with a reconditioned Molteni stove, the beating heart of the restaurant, and ensures that his cuisine is sincere, clear and always gourmet. The daily menu changes regularly, adapting to new arrivals and the inspiration of the moment.

Atmosphere and setting

The charm of Chez Davia also lies in its atmosphere. Wooden tables, checkered tablecloths, carefully selected crockery, family mementos... everything is there to recreate the spirit of a warm, unpretentious bistro. The welcome is attentive, professional and kind. The terrace offers a pleasant setting in fine weather, and the restaurant is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
