National Sports Museum in Nice

A unique immersion in the history of sport

Originally based in Paris since its creation in 1963, the Musée National du Sport moved to the Côte d'Azur in 2013, to coincide with the inauguration of the Allianz Riviera stadium. Located at the heart of this emblematic stadium, which hosts OGC Nice matches as well as numerous sporting and cultural events, the museum - under the supervision of the French Ministry of Sports - celebrates sport in all its forms: through its study, the conservation of its symbolic objects, and their enhancement in a captivating museum tour.

With over 45,000 items and 400,000 archive documents, The museum's collection traces the evolution of sport from antiquity to the present day. Equipment, trophies, posters, outfits, photographs, films... Each piece tells a page of history, revealing the cultural, scientific, economic and artistic wealth of the sporting world.

Among the treasures on display, visitors can admire :
- The ball from the legendary 1998 World Cup final
- The shirts of legends like Pelé, Platini and Kopa
- Marie-José Pérec's leotard and pointe shoes for her 1991 world title.
- The bikes of Bernard Hinault and Eddy Merckx
- Jacques Anquetil's yellow jersey in 1961
- Yannick Noah's racket at the French Open in 1983
- Marcel Cerdan's boxing gloves
- And even an oak draisienne dating back to 1820, the ancestor of our modern bicycles.

The permanent exhibition covers 2 500 m², regularly supplemented by high-quality temporary exhibitions, to enhance the visitor experience.
